Gitanjali Names Shahrukh Khan as Brand Ambassador

Gitanjali Group appointed Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan as its new brand ambassador. The new association highlights the all-encompassing core value of the group ''Trust Forever,'' the company said.
''We understand what it takes to win people’s trust – a continuous quest for perfection, a commitment to quality and a never ending passion to stay at the top,'' said Mehul Choksi, the chairman and managing director of Gitanjali Group. ''These are values that Shahrukh embodies perfectly, besides also being a symbol of loyalty and romance and so when it came to selecting a celeb to represent our group, the choice was obviously him.''

Gitanjali, which retails diamond jewelry under the brands Gili, Nakshatra, Asmi and D'Damas in India, operates three diamond manufacturing factories and nine jewelry manufacturing units in India, and has more than 3,600 points of sale and retail stores.

''I am very happy to be associated with the Group which has created so many of the leading jewelry brands in India and carved for itself a niche in the hearts of people,'' Shahrukh Khan stated.

The Bollywood superstar, along with Anushka Sharma, will also be endorsing the group's Gitanjali Jewels, a multi-brand lifestyle jewelry store chain retailing high-end diamond and gold jewelry brands.

Has Shah Rukh's stunt in Don 2 inspired a sequence in Sachiin's Aazaan?

That Shah Rukh Khan is an inspiration to many out there is something which is a known fact. Known for his romantic image, he is now looking at action in a big way, case in point being Ra.One and Don 2. No wonder, even his action sequences are now turning out to be a source of inspiration for his friends and followers. This is evidenced from the fact that last year when he jumped from a skyscraper in Berlin, Shah Rukh was being closely observed by his friend Sachiin Joshi.

The entrepreneur turned actor has now incorporated a similar scene in his upcoming film Aazaan as well which is again a spy thriller.

"Sachiin and Shah Rukh have been friends for quite some time and frequently exchange notes around their films", says a source, "When Shah Rukh jumped off a 300 ft tall building in October last year, the moment was etched in Sachiin's memory. He had begun work on Aazaan by then but was sure that he would include something as breath taking in his film before its release."

Both being central protagonists in their films, it was imperative that both Shah Rukh as well Sachiin were adamant that they do their own stunts. In fact after Shah Rukh did the stunt, he had happily tweeted, "Just did an over 300 feet base jump for Don... because you all make me believe I can fly. Time to tell kids about the birds and the bees... ha ha."

Meanwhile, Sachiin too started thinking big and pronto discussed with his director Prashant Chadha about the possibility of adding a scene on similar lines after they were done shooting in France, Morocco, China, Germany, Poland and South Africa.

Confirms a source, "Yes, a special scene has been written keeping this stunt in mind. It acts like a prologue and sees Sachiin jumping from a 36 storey building. As for the height, you can do the maths yourself. However, as far as our understanding goes, so far no actor has jumped from such height in any released film. Sachiin did this stunt last weekend in Bangkok under strict supervision of the action director."
The prologue introduces Sachiin who finds himself in the middle of an assassination plot. Spread over three days, the sequence is said to be on the lines of a Mission Impossible and James Bond series.

On contacting, Sachiin refused to comment on comparisons with Shah Rukh's stunt in Don 2. However he said, "It is quite strenuous to shoot for such scenes though when you have to jump off 36 floors. I don't remember a stunt like this in any Bollywood movie till date. I feel we have done our best and exceeded expectations."

Hope expectations would only soar further once Shah Rukh's feat would be there for all to see in Don 2.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is leaving no stone unturned in marketing RA.One, today launched a custom built movie channel on leading online video platform YouTube for his upcoming film. The movie channel on YouTube will offer users all videos of the RA.One premiere, red carpet events planned in London, behind the scene shots, uncut footage of the star cast and Shah Rukh's thoughts.

It will also host games and give chance to users to create promos from clips, music and dialogues of the film.
"This concept goes well with my Ra.One as the film is about digital world...computer and all. So (I) launched it on a digital platform like YouTube. Besides, it will help me take the film to more people. I am thrilled and excited about it," the actor told reporters here.

The initiative will make Shah Rukh one of the first Indian celebrities to be on the Google plus platform and engage with fans. Ageing Shahrukh Khan plays father

It seems that Badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan has now crossed the age of sweet lover boy and trying to play the characters according to his age. Despite his entertaining performances in past movies like Om Shant Om and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, critics pointed out SRK’s growing age and ageing wrinkles on the face. Now, Shahrukh Khan is playing the character of father in a couple of upcoming films.

Shahrukh Khan who had played the character of a lover boy ‘Raj’ in Karan Johar’s directional debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai a decade ago, will be seen as the father of a young lad in My Name Is Khan. In fact, Shahrukh Khan feels it is okay for him to be shown as the father of a teenager.

Karan himself confirmed that Shahrukh Khan is playing father to a teenager in My Name Is Khan. Director Karan Johar who is also a good friend of Shahrukh told that playing father was never an issue for Shahrukh or him. Further Karan added, it shouldn’t be an issue at all. Karan said, Shahrukh’s son Aryan is almost 11 year old. In my first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, when Shahrukh was 30, he played a college student. Actors should not worry about these things. I don't think they should allow these aspects to interfere in accepting roles based on such things.

Shahrukh Khan plays the character of Rizwan Khan in My Name Is Khan. Rizwan is suspected to be a terrorist after authorities mistake his disability for 'suspicious' behaviour post 9/11. Shahrukh all time favourite co-star Kajol essays the role of Mandira, a Hindu single mother with whom Rizwan falls in love. The cast and crew of My Name Is Khan have recently returned from a schedule in the United States. The final stint of shooting will be in Mumbai this September.

In addition to My Name Is Khan, Shahrukh Khan is also playing dad to a grown-up child in Anubhav Sinha's Ra1. As the superstar of Bollywood has entertained cinelovers in various types of roles for almost two decades. Let us see, how Shahrukh justifies his new avatar as a father in the coming films.
